1) Only eat when you are really hungry. Most of us end up eating for other reasons
than being hungry. Sometimes, we eat because we are simply bored to death. Sometimes,
eating is the only distraction from monotonous work (all office goers will agree
to that). Sometimes we mistake our thirst as our hunger pang. Thus, most of the
time, we end up mistaking the signals our body gives us as hunger. It is important
to identify hunger pang before eating. The trick is to have water first and then
eat. Not only does it avoid mistaking thirst for hunger but also helps to satiate
our hunger to an extent.
2) Never eat while doing work, watching Television or chatting with friends. What
happens is that our mind is so busy doing something that our food intake fails
to register. As a result, we end up eating far more than before. Thus, just take
a few minutes off your work and eat.
3) Always have water before eating. This helps to curb our hunger to some extent.
4) Some of us end up over eating, when we go for a party. The trick is to have
some light food at home before leaving for the party. Moreover, once at the
party always try and have as much of salad as you can.
